Kustom P-310 Speaker Towers [message #16352]

I just picked these up the other day. A set of Kustom P-310 speaker Towers. Both towers have 3 10" ROLA speakers that date to 1977. The inside of these speakers are very clean and the outside shows minimal wear. Unfortunately I was not able to test before purchase and so bought them as is. I plugged these into my Kustom J-595 head and the speakers sound very distorted and fuzzy. I was told the J-595 needs to see a 4 ohm load. Does anyone know the ohms or power rating of the P-310 speakers (individually and/or as a set)? Thank you.

Are those piezo tweeters in there ?? I thought that those were a "no-no" for K series Kustom amps ??

Kustom offered PA cabinets with Piezo's but you will see a 50 ohm 5 watt resistor in series to keep the kustom amps from running away and over heating and shutting down.
If your amp sounds good with other cabinets other than the P310's then I'd say the speakers are shot.
The model number J595 is an early 67 circuit breaker model. The J stood for Jensen and the 595 was the retail price for head and 2x15 Jensen speaker cabinet. Kustom later changed to the K200A-1 which is what your amp would have been labeled.
