Hello. Some of you may have noticed my post in the wanted section, mentioning how I just bought a pair of new Crate cabs to use with my Kustom head. Bi-amping seems to be the best way to go in my search for more power (even though it's pretty loud now), although i have heard of people hooking up PA power amps to the RCA output on the head. I think it would be less expensive and more awesome to get another Kustom head (to make a nice rounded collection of three), but I know I could get more power with a PA amp (only thing is it would cost more and i'd also have to buy a rack case for it, and I know it won't be tucked and rolled haha). By the way, the 1x15 cab can take 150 watts RMS and the 4x10 can take 400 watts, so I could get a fairly sizeable amp on top of this thing. Anyway, which is better, doubled-up Kustoms or one Kustom and a power amp? (keep in mind finances are slim haha, and I did consider getting a Hartke 3500 head like what our school has, but I like the Kustom sound/look too much (and yes the Hartke also sounds good, but i've become a Kustom freak and I like it). Thanks!

Dude! proud of ya for sticking with the kustoms..both for sound and looks... and yeah.. I'd snag another 200 kustom head...can be found for cheap...and if they are in good shape mechanically..they can punch quite well..I compare a 200 head (100 watts rms) to a Peavey CS400 at well over twice the rated output..heck bridged its 4 times the rating...and yet the kustom is perceptably as loud and to me had a tighter bottom end... I have the big 400 Pa heads too and they compare favorbly against my mackie 1400 power amp when driving my pair of kustom 2x15 bass cabs...and the kustom 400 is all of 100 watts rms per side...I'm not an electronics guy..but whatever the design diffs of the kustoms..and how they translate the input voltage to actual sound...they just do it better..you have to go to a Crown or a way massive amp like say the SWR900 or Eden WT800 to get significantly more sound...yeah...buy another kustom...you'll sound great..be heard..and look way cool.. Play Loud! ET

Hello. I'll have to agree, for only being 100 watts, it easily equals my Fender Bassman 200 1x15 in volume with only the 1x15 cab (either the crate or my kustom 100 1x15, and with the Crate, it weighs less too; solid wood Kustom cabs are rather hefty yet awesome). I guess it's not the wattage, it's how you use it. But with two heads, i think i'll have to reinforce our floor supports before i do that, and i play in the basment on carpeted concrete. In conclusion, Kustom=awesome and I want a K200 B1 or equivillant! Thanks!
