Left behind...no Indy..but still having fun! [message #905] Thu, 04 October 2001 16:17 Go to next message

Well hey to all our kustom krazies that couldn't make the Indy run this year...no reason for us not to still have fun on the board while the others are tossin the bears and drooling over each other's rigs... I will really miss it this year. and I hope you all will try to make the next one..it really is worth the run. as for me.. I doused my sorrow by buying another kustom yesterday...what?..well black of course..its one of the old plexi face 400 PA heads...those big monsters.. already have one in charcoal but the housing is rough..however the amp was worth $80 worth of tune up and I use it all the time as part of my small club PA...so when I stopped in to see Chip yesterday he had a nice one in black..couple small pimples..but hey.. I've dated girls in highschool with more problems than that...he had just had it serviced and it plays really strong..it really is the match I've wanted to go with my 3x15 siren cabs...but in fact I'll be using both these 400 monsters to run my low end 2x15 cabs that cover my sub work in my PA. a 400 amp into one of those cabs loaded right with effiecient bass drivers can thump just fine for the work I do..and it was cheaper than buying some newer amp that I really didn't care for...in fact I've got some PV power amps rated at 2-3 times the power, but they are mushy on the low end compared to the kustoms...much tighter sound. I know a 400 (200 rms) ain't much these days..but somehow I feel a bit more powerful today..ready to go out and take on the next wedding gig! (god help me!)and play one more round of Electric Slide...actually starting to refocus on Buddy Guy style blues and good old club dance music..still have to do the required wedding stuff...pays the bills...oh and I got to see Chip's big cascade twin 3x15 bass rig in person...really sweet..the neat thing was the 400 head which had 3 channels plus where the 4th goes there was the selective boost circuit instead..really unique amp...oh and for he records..he also has a couple of black pa columns the size of the 4x12s..but these have 6x8s in em....never seen that..have seen the 12 on top and bottom with the 3x8 in the middle..but these are not that...and they are the old electronics flat black and plain black grill...too rough for my taste..but neat to have seen the config. btw... Chip is on the prowl for a couple more 3x15 cabs in cascade and I think a couple 2x15 cascades in case you have some to sell or swap...he's at the show this weekend braggin...and he has some nice kustoms at the shop right now...a great cascade 2x12 K100 ross rig...really clean..and a k100 2x12 red...oh yeah! and a yellowed but quite nice SC100 or 150? 4x10 white(silver) combo and a little black K25 which he was considering keeping and I urged him to do so..the K25s are a bit more special...there was more....but you contact him...always a great guy to deal with ... I enjoyed my visit...thanks Chip....Play Loud..ET

ET and all left-behinders: I can't make Indy cuz I'm having elbow surgery on the 5th....bummer! Chip's 4-10 is a 150. Oh, and he is a great guy! Fun to chat with, and a real kool dude! He is someone that I'm proud to "associate" with in the Kustom world that we are all consumed with. I just wish that I could find that money tree, or win the lottery, cuz I'd buy all the "tuckies" that he's got. I'm hoping that Bud can make it next year because he is really special. Talking to him on the phone was great, but I do want to shake the man's hand and give him a hug. Bud is a fine example of what makes me proud to be an American. I may disappear from the board for awhile after my surgery if I'm not up to computing. I'm hoping that I'll be one handed typing on Monday.....You all just tune in and see. I'll miss you guys in the interim. Take care. Stay proud. Play those Kustoms loudly, as if you were sending a loud heart-felt message to all the people that screw up humanity...... God Bless America, and my Kustom buddies!

ET, thanks. I'm back here, typing away left handed. Got aways to go to be up to playing those Kustoms, so you play longer okay? I will tell Randy you said hi.
