Anyone know what the bass pot value is for a k250-2? Don't know if I makes a diff but it is the top channel with the selector knob.
Also where can one purchase a replacement?
Somewhat off topic - this amp is MUCH quieter than my k200b pa head. No background hiss and overall it just sounds a lot better. Is this due it being a later model? Diff between guitar and pa head? Should I get the pa head serviced?

The bass pot on the Selectone preamp board (PC5067) is 100K. The bass pot on the normal preamp board (PC5066) is 50K.
They are CTS brand PC mount pots. The service book does not list the taper. You may be able to order one from Antique Electronics, they used to have a bunch of NOS Kustom pots.
What is wrong with the one you have?
As for the background hiss, there can be a million reasons that the PA head is noisier, one of which is that there are 4 preamp channels all feeding into the output versus 2 channels on the 250 head. If you can, compare your K200B PA head with another one and see how it sounds.
As for the overall sound, the metal front amps were completely redesigned with updated preamps and effects sections, using ic chips. Only the power amps remained similar to the older B-series amps. So the tone and features will be quite different.

I just double checked, PC5067 which is the Selectone preamp for your amp uses a 100K pot for the bass control. If you still have the original one, you can read its' resistance value and taper to compare the replacement one.
