I was dorking around on Craigslist and accidently stumbled upon some Kustom stuff for sale. Being the CCR fan that I am, this set off a torrent of interest. I get over there and the seller has a K200A-5 and K200B-5 in good shape, a 2x15 cab in repairable shape, and a K200B-2 and 2x15 cab in kinda rough, but fully functional shape. The naugahyde on the B-2 set was kinda weird. It had a real heavy grain, almost like leather.

Anyways, just before I had to leave, he shows me a Frankstein head and cab he's got down in his laundry room. I didn't have time enough to play it, but he saids it works just great. Is this something that would be worth picking up? I'm always up on getting more gear as I still have open floor space that I must eliminate in my house, hahaha. The Frankie has reverb and the early style knobs. It's not the K200A-4 that I've been hunting for, but still kinda cool. What's a good price for something like this?

Hi, that frakie head is a PA head, but will work fine for guitar or bass, they have a bit less brite of a tone than the two latter heads and put out about 60 watts RMS, so not quite the kick of the latter heads.
I noticed it also has a added jack for something on the left front of the amp face, and the bottom speaker is not original to the cabinet, so these factors will reduce its value by a good bit, but it would still be worth picking up in my book.
Mabe others here will chime in on this also.

From the looks of it, I'd guess that the bottom may be from a newer amp. It looks one pleat too wide for the head.

As Steve points out, this is an PA head. The knobs and front markings show that it is an early version. The only difference from the other models (bass and guitar) is the lack of the high/low inputs.

The oldest Kustom I ever owned was serial number 4908, which was the 2,908th Kustom amp made (out of 110,000 Tuck&Roll amps).
This one is even older.
I would pay maybe $150 to 200 for the head as long as it works good with no issues.
I would pay maybe $150 to 200 for the cabinet as long as both speakers work good.
Also check both pieces for any discoloration... common for this color.

Thanks for all the advice. I counted the pleats, and it is two pleats wider. The extra jack has label that says "F.S." attached to it. God only knows what "special" mods that means.

My guess would be for a foot switch for the reverb, I have that same head in red and they do not have a foot switch for that control.
That newer Kustom head with the leather like tuck n roll is what alot of amps got made with in late 1972 from what I have seen from the dating of my K150 covered like that.
