Charger age? [message #1293] Sat, 23 February 2002 04:01 Go to next message

Howdy folks. I stumbled across this site and bookmarked it immediately. Having been born and raised (and still living)in Chanute Ks. I have a lot of memories of Kustom and its products. All through school we always had Kustom PA's and amps. I used to dig scrap Nauga out of the dumpsters and make wallets and watch bands. My wife got me started again by buying me a Kustom Kolors katalog for Christmas. Well I couldn't be satisfied with just a katalog so I am now the proud owner of a beautiful cascade Charger bass amp. Does anybody out there know when the SS series came out and how I could date this one that I have. Thanks

Glad to see you found the web site, and have some envy for all you folks in chanute. I have been there twice and of course kustom was the reason. I'm sure there are a lot of one of a kind cabinets in your area. The charger ss series amps were intruduced in june of 71 at the summer NAMM show. If you click on the yellow other T&R icon and then combos it will take you to the catalogs for your amp and the earlier self contained kustoms. I am sure there are some out there that could help dated the amp from speaker and pot date codes. The only problem after 30 years, it's hard to tell if a speaker had been replaced. Stay in touch and keep scouting for the kustoms. Don

hey Charger fan...welcome to the koolest crew on the planet! i like your ideas about the wallet and watchbands....might have to get out the sewing machine again! looks like Don has your answers...he really is the authority on the slant face era.. i just dig the whole padded sparkledy thing in general...althought eh rest of the gang will tell you I'm pretty much a black purist...its really just that black was all I could find and afford most of the time cause these guys all seem to have more money than me when the good ones come up...still just glad to see that amps have good homes with guys (and Deb) that love em so much...Play Loud!
