I just got a great deal on a K100-5 PA head. Never tried one before, and it was too low-priced to pass up, so ...

Got it home and cleaned it up, and surprisingly it seems to be in decent shape electronically, EXCEPT that the reverb is "on" all the time, on all four channels. It's not "at 11" or anything, but definitely active.

Any suggestions as to how I can get rid of this, and only get reverb when I want it?

I have sprayed all pots, cleaned all connectors, etc., so I don't think that's an issue. And unlike other heads, there's no XLR jack in the back, where a pin(s) could be isolated/shorted to locate the spurious signal.

Suggestions? S/N is 35390, which places it in early 1969.

There is a 1/4" jack on the back lower right that is the reverb footswitch jack. Reverb is always on unless the footswitch jack is used. You can just put a shorting plug to turn off the reverb or a simple on/off switch.

I believe that the reverb should turn off when all of the front panel controls are turned down.

I know that there are later revisions to the reverb/mixer board that might fix this. The schematic for this board has a few resistors marked as changed values. If you look at the board in the amp and try and find the resistors in question, you can figure out if you have an un-updated board or if you already have the new value parts installed.

The K100-2 that I just fixed for you, had the same problem. The reverb would not turn off until I updated the reverb circuit with the new resistor values.
