Hey guys...I'm new around here and to Kustom products in general.

Anyway, I've done quite a bit of research, but let me tell you my quandry.

A friend of mine has a K100 that they are trying to get rid of in black. Head and Cab. I don't know the speaker configuration in the cab yet (as I've yet to see it). I think I may be able to get it dirt cheap.

Anyway, give your rants and raves about this particular amp and sound. I love tubes and tube amps so this would be a stretch for me, but the appeal to have a giant clean amp is very seductive.

Plus this tuck and roll stuff is pretty friggin' cool!

I guess I'm bit by the little Kustom bug.

What speakers are more revered? The Jensens to the Altec's?
Can I use this amp as a bass amp? I figure since it has such a vast amount of clean headroom it would make for a spare bass cab. Opinions?

Thanks So Much

Hey fuzzy! Welcome to the group. If you want opinions, you've come to the right place.
As I remember it, the K100 is a 50 watt rms amp. Not exactly a powerhouse of a bass amp, but really a great basic guitar set-up. It will work well with FX pedals, and will serve most purposes well, as long as you only ask it to be what it can be. Don't expect it to sound warm like a tube amp, 'cause it can't.
As far as speakers go, they all have good and bad points. I really prefer the sound of the 15" JBL's and CTS speakers that Kustom used. But I'm sure that there will be other opinions posted here as well.
Again, welcome aboard. Bill from chicago.

Thanks for the info.

I look forward to hearing more opinons and thoughts about the K100. I'll let you all know when I check the amp out in person (sometimes this week).

Thanks,

ezt
