I'm wanting to get a Kustom 100 for bass, my questions is:
Which type cabinet has a better sound for bass? Who likes which cabinet better and why? Can the 2x12 cabinet put out the lows? How's the sound of the 1x15 cabinet? I currently have 2 200B-1's, one with a 3x15 cab. the other a 2x15 cab., how do the 100 cab.s compare in sound? And is anyone interested in buying or trading for a 100? Pick up only - I'm in Michigan north of Detroit. Thanks for your input and insight.

I am looking for a 2-12 cts loaded bass cab myself to go with my 100 head so I could get my first owned Kustom back so to speak. Over the summer I found and got one on ebay, and when I went to pick it up it was a 200 2-15 cab!Its hard to say which 100 cab is better, but I would put it like this having heard all of them. The 2-12 CTS loaded cab is better than the 1-15 CTS cab,but the 1-15 with a Altec 421 or a JBL 140 serise, they trump the CTS 2-12.But THE 2-12 works great for guitar where the 1-15 JBL is on the dark side, not much spank.

Steve,
Absolutely true on all counts. I have both a 2x12 CTS and a 1x15 CTS and the 2x12 has tons more character. The 15 is very dull in comparison to the 12's. My son uses the 2x12 every Sunday for church and it really fills the place. I also have a 2x12 Jensen and it is almost too bright for guitar. I have to run the treble at 12 o'clock with the Jensens but I can get the treble up to 4 o'clock or so with the CTS's and not have my ears bleed. I will probably change out the 15 to a JBL E130 or E140 when I get a few extra dollars. The 130 will work great for guitar and bass but the 140 would be better for bass only. I have no experience with Altec at all.

one that got away when I was 16 yrs old (1973ish)...I owned and was in a working band with, a fender bassman 10..the 4x10 combo...used that little amp hard...wedding band..so it was plenty back then..but I wanted to add an extra cab to it..and on a visit to a music store, they had a blue sparkle 2x12 cab loaded with jbls..don't know what model...but recognized the chrome domes..I plugged the fender bassman into that cab and it knocked me on my butt.. I was instantly in love and wanted to buy it, but the store had promised to rent it out that satruday night to a band..so I was to have to wait to get it...came back the next week..and yep..the band decided to keep it.. I still grieve for that cab...turned around and traded the fender in and bought a kustom 200 bass head with 2x15 cab..then later added a second 2x15 cab and my world has been set ever since...did eventually purchase a pair of the old ross 2x12 cabs...like the one that just sold for over $300 !! on fleebay..my goodness.. and I would have liked that one...but my top dollar on it would have been around $225...glad to see others are hot for our tuck n roll though..bottom line for bass..a 2x12 loaded with the right speakers will punch youin the gut...you'll love it..

I have had both cabinets also. I did not care for the 1x15 CTS. So now it is an Altec 421-A and I prefer it to the 2x12. I NEED another sparkle 1x15 now if someone wants to sell. For some real fun put a 100 head on a 2x15 CTS cabinet.....you will not believe what the 50 watt amp can do! BC Cool
