I recently purchased a K50-2 combo on ebay. The amp is in great shape and sounds incredible. The back plate on the amp section looks its age, the power cord looks its age, the face plate looks brand spanking new.
The Reverb does generate a lot of Hum when you turn it on (it actually powers on with a click of the dial, something I couldn't remember about my old K100 around 1970). Any ideas on fixing the Hum would be appreciated.
The Vib/Trem works and sounds great.
The magor question is the roll n tuck. Every Kustom I have ever seen including a K150 PA head I own has "smooth" vinyl i.e. no texture to it. The K50-2 has a minor "grain" to the vinyl and is incredibly shiny. The back plate cover (which hides the speaker which is non-original and was disclosed as such) has a different "grain" to it also and is incredibly shiny. I know Armor All will put a lot of shine on vinyl but this seems to be beyond that.
I read somewhere on the web that certain nefarious persons were bootlegging Kustom amps. I can't see bootlegging one this inexpensive (I paid $175 for it) but you never know. It sounds incredible and appears to be a true 25 watts in volume so I'm not disappointed in the amp.
Any comments would be appreciated to rest my concerns.

What color is it? I'm far from an expert, but in my limited experience, the colors are very smooth and shiny, the black is considerably more dull and has a slight texture to it. If it's black, then it may have been re-covered.

The color is black but it is very shiny. I read a posting re another topic last night and they mentioned a "wet black" vinyl used for a short period of time. That exactly describes the vinyl on this amp.
