Hello:  I have purchased a great 1970 K100 combo that is fully functional but needs a 2-button footswitch.  I have seen a "1960's" version that is round, and a rectangular silver "1970's" version.  Is one more correct than the other?  Or can I just use any 2-button footswitch that has a stereo 1/4" jack going into the back of the amp.  Thank you for your wisdom.   Rich

I was asking about the correct footswitch for the K100 combo, a stereo plug with 2 buttons for both reverb and trem.  Older round one or 1970's silver rectangular.  Does it matter?  Thanks.

It does not matter as long as it’s a 1/4” stereo plug.

The foot switch is only needed to turn the effects off on the fly with these amps.

If your reverb is not working then it’s not due to not having a foot switch, it’s 99% more likely to be a failed reverb pan.

The only other thing might be that when using a rectangular type foot switch is that how there labeled might not match what they control.

The same goes for any other amp manufacturers two function foot switch with a 1/4” plug.

I am pretty sure that round foot switches only came with the plexi face amps.

Hi,

I'm in the same boat, K100 without the footswitch. So if I follow any 2 button footswitch with momentary switches and a TRS male 1/4" cable will work? There are many on Amazon with a TRS male plug end but many of them say they are for specific amps but that seems doubtful TRS is TRS is it not?. I have a Trem/Reverb Fender switch from a 68 Vibrolux reissue, would that be safe to try?

The foot switch needs to NOT be of the momentary type.

The Fender two button foot switch would work.

On the Kustom if I recall right the ring of the TRS is the tremolo.

On the Fender foot switch the non braided shield cable is the tremolo.

The Amplified Parts site has a generic 2 button foot switch with about a 10ft cable and a 1/4” TRS on it for 30 bucks.

It’s part number P-H871.

It has no labels on it so label it as needed.

Thanks for the clarification, I looked up the generic P-H871 switch you mentioned (for Marshall amps). The SKU on the Amplified Parts site is P-H471, but it refers to a P-H871 in the description. I just want to be double sure before ordering because I'm not in the US.

The 871 says Marshall on and its buttons are labeled, the 471 is all blank.

Great, thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Haha, I may get my wife to make a Kustom logo for it with her Cricut.

Hi,

For anyone else reading I just wanted to confirm that the Marshall 471 footswitch (from Amplified Parts) works perfectly with my Kustom K-100, thanks again for the tip!
